"air pads", sleeping pads and more are actually POOR CHOICES for such instances
collapsible cots and/or elevated platforms that prevent your body from making physical contact with the frozen ground are needed to prevent you losing body heat with the frozen ground
this is basic outdoor/camping/tent/military sleep systems 101
its not a matter of "comfort" but "literal physics of body heat being sucked into the frozen ground"
its partly why so many "winter survival" structures are obsessed with cots and platforms and such being made of wood, timber, and snow(acting as insulation)
