>>265617Swords and other bladed weapons aren't effective against bears because of their thick hides; you'll never get through it and even in the very rare chance that you hit a sensitive spot like their eye (much less both of them), you'll only enrage it further. Also keep in mind that a bear doesn't need its eyes to find you; they have among the very best senses of smell in the world.
You can kill one bare-handed if you're REALLY determined, but it's really stupid and I don't recommend it. When it charges, it's going to stop a short distance away from you because bears are pussies and are just testing your mettle. If you know anything about bears, you know not to run because you'll trigger their natural instinct to chase you, but what you want to do here is step towards the bear and jam your arm down its throat. You have one shot at this because if you miss, it'll just bite your hand or something and you'll be too wracked with pain to defend yourself, if your hand is even still attached. If you do succeed in getting your arm in, force it in as far as possible and grip onto whatever you can find down there. Tuck your head, wrap your other arm around its arm or neck and grip its fur, and hold on for dear life. Eventually it'll collapse from not being able to breathe, but don't take your arm out until you're sure it's dead. If it's only unconscious and you withdraw early, it'll wake up and fuck you up.
Like I said, it's a stupid method, but if it succeeds, congratulations... you've just killed a bear bare-handed. Your arm WILL be broken, you WILL be clawed up badly and bleeding all over the place, and your wounds will probably be infected if you don't treat them quickly, but at least the fucker is dead.
Alternatively, practice good avoidance and don't step to charging bears; they're just bluffing.
