ive spent least 5k on free, alpine and aid climbing gear. 7 hours driving to get to the closest mountain and back and theres only 3 on my island, once I've explored them completely ill probably have to uproot and move to the south island to regularly see new ground in a financially practical manner.

make friends to you can split carrying the load of the technical climbing equipment cause it stacks up to be pretty heavy. like if im gonna solo a traversing or overhanging pitch it means having two ropes which are 4kg each cause you need to clean them from the bottom up so you need a haul line to rap back to your first anchor point whereas if you have a partner they can just disconnect the bottom anchor and clean as they follow up so only one rope
