>>2667846that's what was available at the time dumbass lol, that being said people who trained with them could plausibly get multiple shots off with enough practice, and yeah a break action shotgun probably would be easier, but when there's so many other options readily available in this day and age it just seems a bit of an oversight to not have a better tool that could possibly be lifesaving, especially with the consideration of being in a remote location (being dropped off in literal alaskan wilderness by plane)
the concern about a single shot break action isn't the gun itself it's that if he's in a situation where he'd desperately need it in self defense, like a kodiak grizzly bearing down on him (or whatever other kind of alaskan grizzly), having only one shot that may or may not hit, and if it does hit, may or may not incapacitate and/or neutralize the threat of a fuckin grizzly bear tearing his face off, it might be advantageous to have more shots readily available
like it's great if you have balls of steel and can stare down a charging bear and simply get a killshot with one shot, hell of a thing, just sayin even in gun fights people can take multiple shots without being incapacitated and still get within distance of the shooter to wound and/or kill
that isn't to say he's some dumbass looking for bear dens like that moron german over in poland or whatever lol, just saying if you're getting into a fight where you need multiple shots, you don't exactly wanna limit yourself with a derringer, know what i mean?
