Those posts of city ""people"" being scared of the /out/doors aren't a meme, large swaths of the population have no means to be in nature with any regularity, and even if they managed to bum a ride from someone who did own a car, there are no uncrowded parks within 3 hours of any major metro area so they still would never experience being "one" with nature.
I would pity them, but they are very smug about rotting in their piss-soaked concrete panopticons and thus deserve their fate.

Take transit to a national park (or the closest town followed by a private shuttle, as Greyhound and AmTrack don’t usually have stops close enough) and hike further than most people.

It’s expensive though. If you could afford it you’d already have a car.

Consider state parks and forests or at least national forests over national parks to avoid the most crowded tourist spots.
Then park the car nearby, get out, grab your gear and start walking.

bet you wouldnt give a fuck if he read a book? people go camping to chill and eacape the stess and grind of everyday life, nothing wrong with watching a match while doing so. i know many of my family guy friends who absolutely cannot find the time and peace to do so while at home.
