>>266790You'll do fine, mate. 90% of first aid is staying calm and collected and just going through the processes. For example:
Unconscious patient:
Call Emergency Services. While doing this, check:
Breathing
Airways
Pulse
Don't move the cunt
Address any visible injuries
Stop bleeding
Open wounds/cuts: BANDAGES, PEOPLE. Not stitching/sutures. Use medical tape to pull the wound together. If possible, wash it beforehand with sterile water, saline OR antiseptic liquids like surgical spirit or good quality alcohol. Cover affected area with bandage pad. Wrap pad with another bandage. While doing this, either yourself or someone else should be calling EMS and preparing for evac.
Broken limbs:
DO NOT TRY TO SET/SPLINT THE LIMB
DO NOT TRY TO MOVE THE LIMB
Call EMS
Prepare for Evac in best way going. In a pinch, a stretcher can be made by zipping two jackets up and placing long sticks through the sleeves. Won't be comfortable, but better than walking out on broken limbs.
Head injuries:
If patient is conscious:
Keep the bastard talking. I use High-School as a good talking point, for example:
"what group were you in?"
"favourite teacher?"
"why?"
"what rooms?"
"what lessons?"
"least favourite teacher?"
Check their pupils still respond to light, and don't let them sleep for 24-hours. If their responses become vague or their words start slurring, EMS. Prepare for evac
Keep patients warm and comfortable as best as possible; if needs be, stop the hike, pitch up a tent and use your body heat+any spare clothing and sleeping equipment to warm them up.
Generally speaking, that should cover everything you need to know
