As for noise, hell yeah that doesn't go away either. I've been out in the absolute middle of Joshua Tree where there's no fucking wildlife at all.... Sure enough 12am, coyote howling, that instinct of "I'm gonna get attacked" sinks in. It's a great feeling actually. Animals are more scared of you, and you could probably wrestle your way out of everything smaller than a mountain lion. In reality nothing is going to harm you. It's the little shitters that get you. Mosquito's and bacterial infections.
For noise, put in ear plugs. That's the game changer. You'll sleep great at night.
