If the SHTF, the highways will be parking lots of panicked soccer moms and NASCAR dads
fleeing the city while a bike will allow one to cut right thru or take alternate routes and the
gas engine, will allow much higher speeds (with much less physical effort) while carrying
more gear.
And when the gas does run out, the engine and associated parts can be unbolted and tossed
aside, leaving you with a conventional mountain bike.
