This presupposes your spring is one of those Europeans jobs the ol' village used to rely upon for potable water because homes seldom enjoyed a direct supply. They tend to have very high quality water.
In the states, we don't have many public springs, however, we do have a gazillion wild springs and these are often contaminated by mine tailings, agriculture etc. and so you should investigate prior to consoooo-ming.
I bring a First Need Elite water _purifier_ and run all my field water through the purifier prior to drinking it. This purifier removes ALL contaminants including isotopes, metals, chemicals and biologics but can clog even with backflushing after only 240 US gallons.
