what are some of the best fixed blade /out/knives in the range of 400g (14 oz) that's great at chopping (other than kbar bk2)
i used own Condor's Hudson Bay (it looked very hillbilly cool) but the steel was just a tad little bit soft and it was rather large for my liking

Skrama 200, I have most of the skrama line and it's their best overall knife for general use and I love it but it's not the best at anything

any knife that's worth a shit chopping is going to weigh more than an equivalent hatchet because physics exist.

I use them all of mine as outdoor work tools and they definitely hold up after hard use. I do recommend getting a belt sander and putting a convex edge on it though. I touch them up very rarely. Recently I processed 5-6 30 ft trees worth of branches with my 240 and 200 and barely had to touch it up after I finished.

you probably want some kind of Smatchet or large Bowie knife.
Coldsteel has some affordable options that you wont feel bad about abusing. You'll still probably want to take along a small knife that's better suited to regular out tasks

I have used a Bayonet2000 that I welded a full tang to for 15 years to clear brush. Any clip point bayonet is heavy enough to be held at the base and shwack through 1.5" dia trees and also they are el cheapo off ebay. Don't get a sawback one.
I have also used the condor bushlore knife for 11 years and it has served me through 2 months a year of dismounted patrols in the subarctic with once a week resupply. Its a great knife and can handle batonny chop chop.

Take a look at some esee's, they're a bit expensive but they're solid and propably would serve you well
You could also maybe try one of the 1095 condors since you said their 1075 was too soft for your liking. I personally don't mind it. but to each their own

Whats the fetish on this board with using knives for choping wood? I want a knife to be sharp and work on task where i need control (and maybe an even sharper blade for more delicate work). For splitting logs and chopping wood I use a fucking axe (or even better, a fucking SAW which makes it easier and cleaner). Whats the bullshit with batoning and fucking your blade cause of retardness? No knive is made of adamantium and everyone will lose its edge if used as an axe.

I use mine for battoning small logs, large branches etc when I want a fire for entertainment purposes or to cook; Some times I use it to make a wedge if the logs a bit bit but I've only done this once.
Nice to have on you when hiking, and camping instead of an axe
