Snowshoeing for beginner

No.2682488 View ViewReplyOriginalReport
I was gifted a pair of TSL Symbioz Hyperflex Access snowshoes like picrel. In the medium size.
I've never snowshoed in my life. Are these a good place to start and grow in to? In a couple hours researching I feel like perhaps they're not the best option, namely due to reports of poor "float" given the shape/size, and being better suited to "technical" use rather than the rambling forest and rolling hills I might be in for, but really I've no idea. I just want get out in the snow away from people, on hikes where having them might come in handy from time to time. I'm 6'6"/200cm, 198lbs/90kg, shoe size 47EU or US13. Should I stick with these? Go for the large size? Or something else?
