Used to be a huge fan of the mini-mils. I went through two pairs before I started working in wildland fire and had to find something else. Nowadays I'm more of a fan of traditional style welted leather boots, but I still do all of my running in a pair of xeros.
Here's what I look for in traditional boots as a barefoot shoe user:
Anatomically accommodating toebox
Low heel <1/2"
Minimal arch support
Anything that meets those criteria should work fine and won't undo any of the progress you've made in actual barefoot shoes. On boots with a more rigid sole, having a slight heel makes it easier to not walk so flat-footed with the soles not wanting to bend. Ankle support is a meme, anyone who tries to sell you it is either frail, stupid, or trying to get your money
