>>2692478While I certainly don't rule out being retarded, I don't actually have to read signs out loud as I do have internal monologue.
Funny thing is, though, I did recently stop by the library to return and pick up some books and indeed read all the signs plastered over the sides of the tall shelves. Turns out it was some kindergarten nearby that gave its tiny little pupils as class assignment the task to design their own folk blouses, so each sheet of paper had the outline of a shirt inside which they scribbled all sorts of whimsical traditional embellishments. Their very own design reinterpretations. The best ones won and got to be hung up in the library with their names and class written by their teachers underneath. We used to do that do way back in the day but it was usually in spring for our Moms and we'd glue origami flowers on postcards, it was all slowly coming back to me.
So I don't really know why you'd want to miss that. Obviously if someone took the time to put up in public something they've made, it'd be worth checking out. Especially since everyone's walking without actually paying attention to anything other than their phones, it's almost like a message in a bottle sent adrift at this point. I remember one time I saw in the tram station this little piece of paper, it was from a lined exercise book and you could tell it was ripped by hand after being folded, with clear duct tape over it holding it up. The handwriting was cursive, tall, exaggeratedly careful albeit shaky at times. In his own words, an old man wanted to meet an old woman so they could spent what little of their lives they have left together. Sucker-punched me right in the feels.
