>>2702808They have this really pitiful, naiveity. Like a kid that believes in the toothfairy. And no, it's not becuase of the fact that they believe in God, it's the way they believe in him. This overly hopeful, overly main-character psychology approach where everyone is a special priest who gets divine intervention for the mundaine, basic assistance in life, and God is going to make sure everything turns out super rosey for you. And if you have any doubts you shouldn't think about it becuase it's literally the devil personally intervening.
It's also that they have this childlike desire to fall in line with group and authority expectations for them. Like a toddler that wants to impress mom and dad without really thinking about what they should do in any critical adult way.
It's funny because I think they do all the things that they should do: love God, have faith in his design, be involved in community, and focus on family. But they come to it in the most child-like, un-self-actualized, and embarrassing ways.
