what new headlamp should I get
I got this a while ago but didn't realize until too late that, by design, the light gets purposely dimmer the longer you have it on which is aids

without researching if this particular model has any additional quirks, I'm guessing you mean it reduces output on the highest settings after a minute or two so as not to overheat and fry itself?
every modern flashlight (with very few exceptions) does this if you set it to max or almost max brightness. it's necessary as described above.
set it to a medium brightness setting and it'll never dim down until almost at the end of its battery life.

You can see the low setting is consistent throughout the battery life. The high setting actually doesn't dim too fast, it seems good. All lights usually get dimmer on the brightest setting. If you want a steady brighter light get a bigger battery and an overall bigger light. Fenix makes a bigger one that gets nearly 1000 lumens steadily for the full 10 hours the battery will last.

OK, fine. I suggest getting a Scurion lamp then. They do not dim at all, full power 100% of the time the battery lasts. They're a bit expensive though.

A friend went ahead and bought a set off these from Aliexpress for rabbit/fox hunting for $150 less than retail, I was calling him a retard for wasting his money on knockoffs until we went out shooting with them, either it's the real deal or they put a lot of effort into a counterfeit for once, would recc for shooting or if you just want a solid 100m ray of death blinding everything in your path when hiking, will have to get back to you on battery life after 30+ uses.
