>>2697794The only place to lose gas is in the gas tube (DI, short or long stroke) during dwell time (time bullet is in barrel). It wouldn't take much additional powder to make it equal to a bolt gun.
Precision shooters prefer bolts because a fast cycling auto can cause barrel whip. They're trying to eek out every bit of accuracy though, not hunting. Even then, with heavy barrels and tuned barrel harmonics it turns out to be a non-issue.
You could get a sub-MOA AR-15 for $1,500 or so. I think that's a good option because you could just swap the upper and go back to being tacticool. Plus, if some shit happened then you can have very quick follow up shots too.
The REAL arguments for bolts are this:
>1. Fudds think it's sacrilege to hunt with a semi-auto>2. A Ruger American 30-06 is sub-moa OOTB and costs $400>3. Gives you a reason to buy another gunHonestly no.2 is the most practical reason I would say. For less than a LaRue Match Upper alone I can buy a rifle, sling, glass and plenty of match ammo.
