To a degree, but it's more like having redundancies for critical gear. Examples:
A butane lighter to start fires, but I throw in a bic lighter and matches or ferro rod as backup.
An actually good bushcraft knife, but I also bring a opinel #8 picnic+ and, plus of those tiny swiss army knives in my first aid kit.
A good water purifier, purifying tablets, and a light weight metal pot or cup I can boil water in.
One good flashlight, a headlamp, one small light weight flashlight, and a few glowsticks
Wool blanket or sleeping bag, and I e blanket
the trick is to have most of your backups serve multiple purposes, and for their added weight to be negligible. .
