That’s the best solution. Even just going a few miles from the popular trails filters out most people. My last trip to a NP was 4 days and a little under 50 miles of hiking. I saw like 4 people. And it was peak season; early fall before it gets cold and well after the heat of summer.

Not much more to say about it. Anywhere in the world, the big, natural wonders will be crowded. There's still an absurd amount of uncrowded wilderness if you're going out to go /out/ and not complete a /trv/ checklist.
