I am planning a two week trip to Yellowstone. I will be driving a 4 door pickup truck in which I will be sleeping for the two weeks.
Minus the driving to and back, I will haven 1 full week in the park.
Can I get some pointers on what to see and do in Yellowstone National Park, and what is a good time to go there. I am considering going in early October.
my interests are: secluded areas, winding roads, hot springs, fishing spots, beautiful vistas, and hiking.

Well its clear you've done fuck all for research. All the gates besides the north close in fall because it snows early there. October is basically winter in Yellowstone. You will not be able to go anywhere of note without being in one of the authorized tourist wagons. If you still plan on going in winter (the hot springs are in the borth entrance) you will need tore chains and very warm weather clothing.

The big valleys host all kinds of animals. Lamar is going to be the most likely place to see the wolves. Lamar valley is almost always hosting the bison herd. It's pretty crowded. But very scenic. Obviously there's the lake. The southern half is crowded. The northern half around Mammoth is my favorite part near the road. You're not likely to see a grizzly unless you hike deeper in to the sticks between roads. They sometimes come out into the big valleys but generally they're after elk further in. But the swan lake flats is usually the most likely spot near the road to see em. The hike down to the lower falls in the Grand canyon of the Yellowstone is really accessible and good. Avoid old faithful. Go hike to some of the slightly more off the beaten path geothermal features.

there are 2 disnticnt herds. The nortthern heard which migrates from the Lamar out of the park thru Gardiner and the souther herd which populates the Hayden and Madison valleys and migrate out by West Yellowstone.

Kinda depends on what you like? Thermal features are fun for about a day or so unless you hike in to some more remote ones. There is a ton of fishing in all the various rivers and streams. You can get a spotting scope and look for wolves in the Lamar but that takes patience. You can explore the all the various wilderness surounding the park- The Beartooths, The Absarokas, the Madison and Gallatin ranges, there are petrified forests etc...The Beartooth pass will be closed but the Chief Jospeh pass should be open depending on weather...
