I keep multiple backup blades on hand because they're essentially a consumable item unless you want to go down the rabbit hole of resharpening modern 20 whatever degree saw teeth and chasing down proprietary saw files. I always keep one spare blade in my pack in case I bend one or ruin it on a nail or something, and so if I'm ever in a "real" survival situation I can have one fresh blade at the beginning of its service life and not have to strictly rely on the blade I've been using all year long for trail maintenance and training. The blades weigh about 1 ounce each. Pretty much a real life cheat code.
