What kind of /out/door activities do you enjoy doing near the end of April?
I’m in Southern Ontario with pretty muddy trails right now, but I have a bit of time off soon and want to make the most of it.

peak waterfall and whitewater rafting season
also really nice seeing everything green up
its actually only a 4 hour drive from toronto to northern pennsylvania
i highly recommend the land between warren pa east to wellsboro pa, and the state forests to the south of that, wonderful views to be had

imho its the worst time of year to be innawoods because not enough snow to ski anymore but just enough to make walking trough it a real chore
on the other hand there is no more snow on the ice and ice fishing season is at its best so if fishing and camping on a different island is your thing now is the time to really live it up

Those are some beautiful rolling hills that we don’t have the pleasure of seeing in Ontario.

I’d almost forgotten that fishing season opens up around that time as well. But I’ve completely embarrassed myself for two years in a row trying to teach myself to fly fish, catching nothing and losing a ton of flys in hanging branches. Fear I’m too much of an autist to meet people who can teach me to cast.

i was talking about ice fishing but yeah the flyfishing season starts too in some countries that have the native fish to support it
cant really help you with that because in my country we have basically no trout so fishing is legal only few months a year when they fill the streams with rainbow trout from a tube
some 7 years ago fisherman got a trout of his life and was fined 10 000 euros because it was few days outside the legal fishing season

fuck this gay earth for making me jealous of americans and their endless natural trout

make sure to check out pine creek gorge, there's tons of great view hikes to be had from around there, especially near blackwell pa as well as driveable dirt roads along the fingers of the gorge that have overlooks at the end and trails down to the bottom from there

Turkey hunting. But generally any sort of camping/hiking is great this time of year because it's warming up but the bugs aren't out yet. Enjoy it while it lasts.

Do you live in London or Sarnia? Kawartha Highlands and Queen Elizabeth Wildlands are both a ~2 hour drive from the GTA

Southeast here. Just got five inches of rain two nights ago. I love this shit. Went out today could wade through this shit for hours tbqh. All the bottom lands are flooded out and it is kino.

This is my favorite time of year to go look for plants and stuff. Prettiest time of year hands down. Best weather too. Today I found a found a few swamp chestnut oak seedlings, some mayhaw seedlings, a bunch of Jack in the Pulpit bulbs, and some some Mulberry seedlings and Spear Grass.
