>>281510>you put film in one and the other has a sensorTechnically, film (well, negative film anyway, slides not so much) has more dynamic range for high contrast scenes, instead of blowing out highlights, though there are ways around that with digital. Different films have different colour and contrast characteristics, though you can get a similar effect from digital with white balance, curves and the channel mixer in Photoshop. Natural black and white film grain simply can't be beat. With a fully mechanical, manual camera, you don't need batteries.
Manual film cameras are also better for picking up artsy hipster chicks. Picture related, it's a pussy magnet.
Digital is cheaper to shoot and experiment with, can be better in low light (that depends on the sensor though), easier to play with in PS than doing the same thing in the darkroom (especially for colour), doesn't use toxic chemicals.
I mostly shoot digital, especially for /out/ings, but I still think manual cameras and black and white film are a good way to learn the basics and develop your eye.
