>>273859>Don't tell me you haven't seen the idiots over there go on and on about tangs and the relative merits thereof in their knife threads, and don't tell me half the posts aren't horribly ill-informed.Of course, that's what we refer to as day/k/are although not all of day/k/are are this way. There are several successful knifemakers that are on during day/k/are hours who frequently help others with questions about knives.
Regarding CSF, he/she/it was a troll and all of his posts should be treated as such. The tang debate is some of the dumbest shit i've ever read, any time of day. "Buy the fucking knife and find out if it works for you, then come tell us exactly what you did and how the knife held up" is always my advice. Too many people are afraid to actually buy and test knives themselves and i don't get it.
Regarding cold steel products, i think they are ok, mainly because i'm not pushing the products past their limits or beyond their intended use. What people need to keep in mind about cold steel is that their warranty states something along the lines of "if you do anything with your products that we do in our videos your warranty is void." They call these videos "abuse tests." Stabbing through a car door, batoning through a 4 x 8, sure that's abuse for some knives, but they also cut through meat and cardboard, so cold steel is inferring that cutting through these items is abuse and that your warranty is void. I would recommend never spending more than $10 on any cold steel product, i own 5 of their knives that i paid less than $10 for each (black friday sale, clearance, closeout etc.) and i get my money's worth out of them.
You can be sure the cold steel stays at home when i'm going innawoods.
