You're going fishing at a stream 20 minutes from a road, wear a t-shirt if you're shaded, wear something with long sleeves if not, and a hat.
Are you hiking? For how long? So wear a t-shirt and some sun block, if not wear a long sleeve, breathable shirt.
I mean, a shirt like that (in the op) will cover you from the sun, protect you from branches and suffocate you in the coming months. If I wear a shirt like that, it's probably for its pockets (the op shirt has too few for me) and the arm sun protection but it's not going to be buttoned up like I'm leading an African safari for British aristocracy in the 1900's.
Aside from the fact that whatever material is used, nowadays, unless you're paying tons, it's going to fray and unthread at its seams. For layers, that shirt sucks, poor insulation and poor breathability. Get a vest with pockets if you want to look like a geek, at least they're useful.
