>>2737761>>2737763we have those around where I'm from in MA. funny thing is the woods I grew up in had a ton of them when I was a tyke but as the forest became more mature they get pushed out by larger flora. down the road there's about a 500 acre nature reserve which is a relatively young reclaimed forest and it's full of lady slippers now.
it seems that about a 50 year old forest is the perfect habitat for them, but then by 70-80 years they die off.
