How do I get a job commercial fishing (or wildland firefighting) in the PNW or Alaska.

Should I just drive out there and panhandle at docks for someone to take me on. Which docks? Which location? The season is starting soon, right?

I've wanted to do commercial fishing since I was 14. I don't have experience with blue collar work or any work besides working in a fucking biomedical engineering lab but I look/am strong because I lift weights.

Am I going to be profiled as a pansy nerd? Should I refer to everyone as sir?

I graduated from a top university in electrical engineering with a high GPA and I can't find a job in that area for whatever fucking reason.

Actually I found a job but my interim security clearance was denied because my mom is Russian. So it's gonna be months until the Anderson-Cooper-watching feds conduct a full scope background investigation with their 1930s era polygraph machines and maybe grant me a clearance
