I'll skip the sob story of how I got here (used to be huge extrovert, lots of friends), but the short of it is since COVID I've been in your boat in an unfamiliar place.
Hiking has been the biggest mental health lifeboat.
I live in a nice place for the outdoors (New Hampshire) and I've basically fallen in love with hiking and exploring the outdoors.
It's not a replacement for friends and meaningful relationships. But, the exercise and immersing myself in nature is the only thing that makes the pain go away for a while.
You still need to get your life together and form relationships. But yes, the outdoors will help you find peace.
