>>2738270>Do you really needProb not. Get a thrift store Singer and get it looked over by a local guy. I'm in under $100 with a nice machine and I sew stuff with far too many layers and rarely get hung up. Also make sure you have the right needle. Your local sewing machine fixer will know more about needle selection if not the ladies at JoAnn.
>>2738404>And because it’s so thin it can get jammed into the feed dogs. A walking foot attachment can help but isn’t really necessary.God I just love when I'm close to the edge of fabric (edge of fabric just under the edge of the foot) and it gets sucked into the hole the needle goes in. I just want to have stitches close to the folded edge, please.
>>2738636If you finished a whole tent with THAT machine, I fear what you can do with a quality 80s Singer. I mean it's thin fabric so it probably doesn't take a lot of force to get the needle through and the fabric isn't super heavy so it doesn't take much to move the fabric around with the feed dogs but damn. I never thought those things were all that functional; maybe I was judging them too harshly.
>>2743654WTF, had the same idea for making something similar for my belt while hunting. I hate having to constantly take my pack off (and risk spooking unseen game) to not become dehydrated.
