It’s thin but will do its job. Without going full autism on you, every carry method has advantages and disadvantages. Watching lots of videos and reading reports of bear attacks, people who have pistols often don’t have them actually on them when attacked. This can be due to clothing changes, or working on something like cutting up an elk, and a chest holster gets in the way. The UBL is mounted to your belt, so changing upper layers doesn’t matter. You can even pull rain pants to the belt line, so it’s totally flexible. The downside is that it is on your side, making a wider point at your side when negotiating thick vegetation. I was surprised to see one of the Meateater cast carry like this, probably going to make it more popular.
