We would cover a ton of ground while it was still fairly cool and by the time it was noon we would be at the campsite. Then we could set up our gear in the shade when it was really hot, and then chill out. By the time the other groups on the same trek would show up, we'd be chilling out getting supper ready.
The only thing that sucks about this plan is going to bed at like 7 in the afternoon, so it's still fairly light and if there are other groups nearby they'll keep you up.
We were from the East coast though, so jetlag made it feel like "normal" time for us.
Other than that, just be prepared for the heat and wear a good hat. That alone worked wonders for me. Oh yeah, and if you see something called a Power bar don't eat it. At least that's what I think it was called. It would play hell on your digestive system all day if you ate one.
