Because of some medication I'll be on, I need to reduce sun exposure.
Does anyone have recommendations for sun protective clothing that doesn't get too hot in the summer?

Material doesn't matter too much, in my opinion. Cotton, linen, even wool will do just fine if not too thick. Polyester dries quicker when you sweat a lot, but tends to feel just a bit warmer and smells more (cause hydrophobic). Dont overthink this, it's just clothing. Also make sure to get a hat! Broad brim and light weight ideally.

I find button up shirts uncomfortable with a rucksack.
I know some american brands offer lightweight "sun hoodies"; else perhaps a simple long sleeve, light colored polo shirt whom collar you can turn up as it was intended originally and a wide brimmed hat. In here polos are either flannel or of a peculiar very well ventilated yet protective weave, tell me if you know what it's called.
Consider gloves and a scarf too if you really are sensitive.
I take you already avoid hours of greater exposure and the likes.
