>>275299Thank you, Sir. They suit my purpose, price and durability requirements.
The X7 is insanely lightweight and great for making kindling wood. Very backpackable.
(Note, without trying it, I felt the X5 was just too small, thus less versital for the few extra ozs of the X7, ymmv)
The X15 is also very lightweight and great for kindling, light wood and general camp chores. I use that in combination with my Sven Saw (another extremely lightweight, compact tool!) for the larger wood, 6" to 8" max dead and dry pine, generally. For me, that is enough.
I have never been left cold at night.
A larger, heavier axe is indicated for more constant, long term use. My expierience with these Fiskar's would convince me to pick up one of thier larger, heavier models, even if only as a backup or second axe.
I've got better things to spend the OTHER $250USD towards, like a better bag, 800 fill down quilt, or a newer 4 season tent.
It all comes down to choices.
Some want a $160 USD pair of /out/ pants.
Pants.
No doubt they are very nice pants and will last a lifetime... if you don't out grow them!
You could say you will never outgrow a $250 USD axe and you could be right.
But I still have ~$200 left and I have an excellent hatchet and a fine small axe!
Yawl Ya'll make your own choices, if you want a vanity axe, $160 pants, dead bird soft shell or Tad hoodie, get it!
I'll spare my change for my vanity items as I see fit. ...mostly travel to more /out/!
(and more guns, though I have slowed down quite a bit in that regard! I did just see a $2600 AR15... talk about a vanity AR! Sure was nice though!)
