Do any of you chaps read Wendell Berry?
He's my favourite /out/ author. I like his essays on Christianity and land conservation/preservation. Very good writer but I never see him posted here.

I don't read social commentaries written by midwits nomatter how much I agree with their opinion.
I read hydrogeology, botonny and permaculture when I'm not reading math.

If I want intellectual bubblegum I read science fiction or old classics.

indeed, im familiar with his writing through his association with the eco-poet Gary Snyder. the christian undertones get a little grating but at least hes not so overt with it compared to most.

This is my Bible. I've bought like five copies and gifted them out. "Faustian Economics", "Feminism, the body and the machine" are my favorite essays in this collection.

Berry is so heterodox which I think limits his appeal somewhat. He's really helped express my discomfort with modernity and been an inspiration in my homesteading journey.

"The Farm" which is not in this collection brings the tears, but I'm a big fucking softie so your mileage may vary.

Glad to see more Berry exposure.

Yeah, I read The Unsettling of America for a university course. I enjoyed it thoroughly. I ought to read more of his stuff at some point.
