found a raccoon latrine on my property, cleaned and torched that shit.

How do I keep these fuckers from coming back? I've heard vinegar, cayenne, and coyote urine can discourage them. Id have no problem shooting them if I wasn't in suburbs and they come to shit at like 4 in the morning. I normally wouldnt mind them if it wasnt for the fact their shit is dangerous

pretty easy honestly; offer them food, shelter, medical care, and easy access to free/clean needles. You just need to give them enough of a helping hand so that they can get off the streets and lead productive lives again. Also make it against the law for anyone on your street to try to move them along.

That's how my city (eugene, OR) deals with homeless vagrants with a penchant for rummaging through trash at least.

Raccoon poop contains a roundworm that is dangerous to humans. They like to poop in the same spot over and over so if you don't realize there is a latrine you can have a large biohazard on your property that just gets worse and worse if you don't deal with it.

They don't actually cause me any problems other than they like to use my yard as a toilet.

Is this really a relevant worry? I mean. My roof is full of bats. Bats can carry rabies. But only a complete paranoid nutball would seek ways to evict all their bats. The bats don't impact my life in any possible way. The odds of a bat flying into my room and biting me when I sleep is infinitesimally remote.

The odds of this raccoon latrine giving you deadly coon worms seems wildly unlikely. I mean maybe I'm wrong. Maybe there's a horrible coonworms epidemic. Maybe humans are on their way out and coons will inherit the earth.

Raccoons like pooping in the same place. It's a peculiarity of the species. Raccoons will find a nice place to take a dump, and all the raccoons in the area will start taking dumps there. Compare this to many other animals that like to find a new place for every dump.

Do you have zero issues taking a dump in a strange new bathroom? You're not raccoon minded.

Do you have only one or two toilets you've dumped in for the past 5 years and are autistic about only dumping in those toilets? You're raccoon minded.

Normally I really wouldnt pay it much mind with the exception im in a pretty urban area, 2 raccoons now means 5 raccoons next year and it becomes a pest problem that burdens the neighborhood, serves as a vector for disease, and generally nuisances the area especially considering they're invasive to our location (the rockies). I'm not necesarily worried about the worms itself since ive dealt with it the way im supposed to, but its more about discouraging them in the future so I dont spend the rest of my days shovelin poop
