During the last major disaster here in Germany (a major river flood coupled with officials not doing their job), a prepper group did provide help - cleared a schoolyard, set up tents, provided first aid and established radio contact with emergency services so severely wounded could (in theory) be airlifted even though the roads weren't cleared yet.
Guess what happened?
They got arrested the moment the worst was over, were accused of being part of an illegal paramilitary organisation and "breaking and entering" for illegally occupying that schoolyard.
Media stopped reporting after that, so there probably was no conviction. But I have no interest in getting into that sort of trouble in the first place. Especially since I have medical training, and would be setting myself up for a "neglecting those in need of aid" / "malpractice" trap the moment proper supplies are out and improvisation becomes necessary.
If shit goes down here, I'm locking the gates to the farm and only letting relatives and friends in.
