>>277380I don't really care if zippos or bics are better... But are you honestly implying that two rocks is more valuable than some liquid fuel and a way to light it?
I personally take: safety matches, light-anywhere matches, candles, bic lighters (Well, similar) and a flint & steel.
I have piddly little girl hands and even I can survive sparking bic lighters enough to get a fire going (i.e. once) so that is in no way a good argument.
I haven't gotten off to a good start with Zed and I think he goes about stuff the wrong way but y'know what... He's right.
Cheap butane lighters are better than zippos.
Evaporation:
Bic wins. Zippos lose like 2 cubic cm when you open them, but the cheap butane lighter loses nothing.
Bic: 1 | Zippo: 0
Lighting:
Zippos only require striking the flint where as a bic requires holding a button as well. However, you need to open the zippo first which means it takes longer. Evenly matched.
Bic: 1 | Zippo: 0
Weight/size:
Sure, neither of them weigh much and they're both tiny but for the weight of a zippo you could carry, I reckon, 3 butane lighters. And they'd take up about the same space.
Bic: 2 | Zippo: 0
Zippos can stand up and act like a candle (Though I just carry an actual candle because I can shove this right into a fire).
Bic: 2 | Zippo: 1
A zippo lasts 3 weeks according to someone in this thread. A bic lighter lasted someone on Yahoo! Answers 4 months smoking 20 a day, so I reckon that 3 Bics are gonna last you WAY longer than 1 Zippo (Size and weight, remember).
Bic: 3 | Zippo: 1
These are all the points I can think of that actually matter in regards to whether or not a lighter is good.
I've dropped dozens of lighters and unless it's proceeded with my foot coming down on it I've never had a lighter break on me.
Hopefully now you can all shut up and keep this piece of shit debate thread off the front page.
