As an example, I bring high calorie instant slop on trips longer than one night. Food for a 4 day trip fits snuggly in a 5 liter bag (it might be 8 liters).
>forest or desert>muh bugs!Logistics are the real issue. First there’s getting to the place you plan on hiking. It’s always a flight then a shuttle, and an Uber or taxi, and two nights in a hotel. Then you have to plan your route. Deserts require extra attention to water, boreal forests are more likely to have bears, and National Parks often require staying in designated sites (not all of them, but many).
