Anyways I miss living out west. I was in Montana, Oregon, Utah, Wyoming bouncing around on the seasonal job grind and it was so nice just to pick up on a whim to go somewhere incredible to do something incredible.
My wife got into medical school in the upper Midwest and while it’s certainly nice (and it has some good /out/ shit), I am staring down the barrel of 9 years away from that lifestyle if she does her residency here (she wants ortho surgeon). I’l be 44 when it’s over. I have no real choice, and I know the payoff will be immense, but spending a decade visiting those places as a tourist when they used to be my home is going to be rough. I might just not go out that way at all.
