It definitely wouldn't be proper to steal ducks from your local city's pond or your neighbor's yapping dog. But if SHTF, only migrants will have experience in this area. And why should that be? It's perfectly good meat.

Got any plans for harvesting local parks and pets if SHTF?

I tried strangling a duck once and their necks are so floppy and they can actually fly so it's harder than you would think. Ducks are tough as fuck and shooting them with steel shot 12 guage they take way more damage than a pheasant does before going down. I imagine geese are even tougher birds than ducks.

I also bashed it in the head with an aluminum bat twice then drowned it. And I shot it once with a .22. My dad told me to do it because I was a minor and wouldn't get a felony. The duck wouldn't leave our back yard and he is a lawn guy so he made me kill it for him.

It was a friday before a 3 day weekend with a monday holiday. So he called animal control and they wouldn't get there until tuesday at the earliest so he was like fuck it let's kill it. I shot it once with a subsonic .22 out of an mkii and it was still so loud we didn't shoot it again. There were mexicans working next door and they were looking over the fence because of the gun shot. That's why I got the bat. But the duck kept diving in our pool to avoid me and I fell in once and it was winter so when he came up for air and I finally was in position I was so cold and pissed off that I absolutely teed off on him with a golf swing. Blood pooped out of his eyes and while he was disoriented I grabbed him and tried to spin his neck but he just keep flying and so there was no weight to him to get strangled on even as I swung him so I threw him in the pool and then just caught him with the skim pole and held him under for like 10 minutes until he drowned. Then we just threw him in the trash. I figured he had been wing shot before or had a disease because he just would not fucking leave or fly away before then.

I can simply hunt and gather for food if I need to.
some magical SHTF situation wont cause my solar to stop working or the freezer to magically go warm. I can hunt deer/rabbits/turkeys and slaughter my excess cows and goats, my chikcens will continue to produce eggs. only thing I will struggle with is fruits,veg, grain.

Your best SHTF survival will be hiding and knowing how to make a near smokeless cooking method for the rice and beans you've already set aside in your lay low location. Once the majority of people are gone things will be hard, but cozier.
