nobody actually thinks monocultures tree plantations are as good as old growth forests. anyone who says or thinks that is either as retarded as you or is lying. logging old growth forests is stupid.
however, "managed forests" are not stupid. they give us access to renewable lumber (which no, dumbass, should not be replaced with help and plastic) without having to cut down real forests.
if we grow enough rows of bullshit pine trees to meet demand for construction materials, we don't have to cut down old growth for 2x4s.
then all that's left is using wood from older, natural trees for fancier shit like nice furniture, which, sure, it's not renewable, but the volume is so low that it doesn't matter.
