>>2781120The one hassle is if you're in a spruce stand where the trees are too close together and all the branches die off before they get thicker than a finger. Red pine, white pine, jack pine, lodgepole pine, they all generally have useable branches. The key is to pick one branch, get your rope over that branch, and then take the anchor end of your rope across the back of the tree to the anchor point, and then choose the second tree so that it's not straight across from your branch either. When you do this, the branch only has to keep the rope from slipping down when slack, under tension, the friction with the bark will bear the load.
