Decades ago, I rinsed off in a stream and the next day I thought something had swam up my ass and laid eggs in my asshole. Turns out it was just serious chafing. It’s normally something that happens to big fat fucks but I was 6’ 1” and only 145lbs at the time. I’m guessing it was the underwear.

I bring TP and finish off each shit with a single wet wipe to keep things clean. Other than that, I don't typically bother with any washing. I will use camp soap to wash my hands before eating. Recently, I did a backcountry canoe trip and since we had an abundance of really clean lakes, I actually took a bath with camp soap mid-trip. That was nice and I've never had the luxury of doing it before.

I just go into the water and scrub/massage everything thoroughly, then lay down in the sun to dry. If there's not any water around then I guess it depends how much water I have with me, if it's worth "wasting" some on hygiene when I might need to drink it instead. For ass wiping, just whatever is nearby. Not sure what you'd do in the desert maybe a cactus haha

Heat up a pot of water on the fire and throw in a squirt of detergent. Use a towel to scrub down my whole body and air dry. Go over any cuts and abrasions with betadine again and sports tape any blisters. Brush hair and teeth, clean old socks and underwear in the bath water and let dry, toss water, sit by the fire and get stinky again. After washing is a good time to put on your thermals and camp clothes and to air out your sweaty trail clothes.

moss works best especiially after a recent rain. the moss has iodine in it so its antimicrobial. leaves work ok but sometimes your finger breaks throughand you get poo on your finger. shells and rocks dont work very well and just scrape the delicate butthole skin. the only thing with moss is to shake it gently to get any bugs out

I usually don't camp at campgrounds or popular spots where such contamination becomes significant enough to cause problems. I'm lucky enough to live near actual wilderness areas (Western US. Still not true wilderness compared to Alaska or Northern Canada though). If you're in a campground in a popular spot though then yes, please do not leave your shit there. Nothing wrong with those places, they can be beautiful too, but people ruin them. Sick of finding dirty toilet paper in the campground itself because they were too afraid to shit even 20' away, and even that close to camp still couldn't clean up after themselves. Awful behavior.

Based. I didn't have consistent access to running water for part of the year so I was using a bucket too. Charcoal is the absolute best thing you can put over the top.
