. you twist the metal at the base of the blade/top of the handle and it locks the blade in place. it can lock the blade open or lock it closed.

They’re just a nice cheap knife. I don’t have one but there’s nothing wrong with them.
The blade does lock with the collar at the hinge.
I’ve been told the steel is very good quality.
Fuck it I might just go buy one and see how it is, though I do prefer one hand opening.
It’ll just end up in the ever increasing bin of shit I never needed.

Idk if they are overpriced abroad like all our products but here in France they are cheap and available absolutely anywhere including stores that have nothing to do with knives in the first place so they are usually a kid's first knife, also thanks to the locking mechanism
I think my dad got me one when I was around 8 so I could carve (shitty) arrows to play in the yard with and equally shitty handcrafted bow strung with kitchen twine

Our more "prestigious" traditional option is the Laguiole, made with more noble material like horn and usually featuring a cock opener because it used to be a sheperd's knife at a time when wine was drank on the go at any given time or place, and features a small cross on the handle so said sheperds could just stick the knife in the ground or a stump and pray when they were away from the local church

Or a knife from Thiers, our self proclaimed knife capital where lots of knife craftsmen still remain

You sound like a tacticool larp faggot. Opinels are cheap and fantastic for small tasks. Buy an opinel for small jobs and a mora for big jobs, and you'll have no need for anything else.

Are you retarded? The locking ring is among the best locking mechanisms. it's as safe as a backlock, and also locks the blade in the closed position like a elver- or pinlock. The only thing that's anywhere close is the balisong mechanism.

It can be, though. it's just a bit uncomfortably. If you have to deal with places where both fixed blades and knives intended to be used one-handed are illegal to carry (UK and some of the especially cucked places in the US), Opinel is the best way around that.

I love mine because of how thin the blade is, but I hate how hard it is to open. The wood swells and grips the blade like your mom's cooter gripping my shaft. It holds a sharp edge very well and it's ergonomic and light.

It seems you are the one who is retarded. It takes about 7 pounds of pressure to break an opinel lock. There's tons of YouTube grifters who run this test because it's guaranteed views. It's literally the worst lock and should barely be considered a lock.
