ive used timberlands for hunting
very excellent boots. Very comfortable, wore them for the entirty of my 10 hour shifts last year.

Brands like North Face, Patagonia, and REI sell both real outdoor gear and gorpcore fashion shit. Timberland and Eddie Bauer are almost completely fashion shit. This trend is over 100 years old. Abercrombie & Fitch used to be a serious outdoor outfitter.

But I should say, buying ANY boots/shoes without trying them on is always a bad idea, fit is by far the most important factor with boot purchasing and you'll never know what's best for you unless you go to a store and try a bunch of them on.

I have an ancient Abercrombie & Fitch wool sweater and can confirm it's excellent. Weave is really tight and it's a little itchy but very warm and feels rugged. Not like a bunch of my other sweaters that are one caught branch away from losing a thread and unraveling.
