>>2793030I'm one of those people who gravitates towards horses, so if there's a field of them with nobody in it chances are I'll make a nuisance of myself to them for a little while.
I've become quite good at ingratiating myself with groups of them, since there was a field near my old workplace. I would go out on my lunch hour and just relax with them. First, each horse will come and interaact with you individually and test you in certain ways, and then when you leave they will come together and form a group consensus - like a pack of broads do in the human world.
Anyway, once you have their respect, you can start testing them to see if they'll accept you as a rider, and take your weight. Stand at their sides and push down on their back once you're in the gang, and the horse will clearly let you know: "yeah bro i'm cool, you can jump up". OR, "what the fuck are you thinking? Nope!" and then it will walk away or show you its back legs.
Anyway, what I'm saying is that before you ride a horse you can learn to understand them. You can learn to speak horse and in doing so you will become far more horse-friendly than by hanging out at a stable.
