how? it literally has a barrier between with the cotton shirt, and the cotton doesn't smell?
Why does tech fabric hyperbreed nasty smells?
it literally smells worse than my armpit itself

Because synthetic fabric is made of non polar molecules it holds on to smells which are also non polar molecules. Same reason that Tupperware takes on the smells of food but your dishes don't. You are smelling every stinky armpit the synthetic has ever known

Lipo- and hydrophilia is the difference. Synthetics (well, most of them, to be precise, but basically all that are used for clothing) are unpolar, lipophilic materials. The same bacteria that can grow on the fat on your skin can grow on those.
Cotton, on the other hand, is highly hydrophilic and polar. Part of why it gets wet easily and dries slowly, btw. While there are bacteria that will grow on cotton, those are generally not found on your skin or in your sweat.
And without bacteria, specifically, without anaerobic digestion of your sweat by those bacteria, there's no bad body odour. Your "true" body odour (pheromones etc) still comes through, and since that's mostly polar substances, it'll actually stick better to the cotton. But it's not a smell a normal person would dislike.
