I want to move to the UK from Canada for reasons I won't mention here but I'm wondering if anyone here that's British knows of a prepper community in that area that I could join. Please let me know if you have one that you can connect me with. I can further clarify my circumstances in private. I'm interested in living in either England or Scotland, and in a warmer part of the country if I can. I have a list of gear I'll be taking with me that I can share with you as well.

Wtf would you want yo move to the UK? There's zero wilderness, it's overcrowded, its heavily cultured, everything that used to be good about it is either gone or rapidly disappearing. You can prep but you can't just go out and shoot up some deer. Prepare to be poor.

Are you from there? I've seen wilderness there. Northern Ireland has wilderness, as does England. They have forests. It depends where you go. Why's it bad for them to be cultured? That's a good thing. It'd be boring if they weren't. I'm already poor. I've been poor all my life. Deer would be in short supply in an apocalypse no matter where you go. You'd have to rely on mostly fish or birds.

My reason for moving to the UK is political. I prefer monarchy over democracy, and I know my chances of being accepted as a refugee are higher than most other countries since Canada's a member of the Commonwealth.

You should make "no more fibbing" your resolution this year.
wilderness is not defined as "it would take more than half an hour for some jeet to deliver my curry at 2 am". Similarly, a forest is not just a collection of trees.

The UK is an awful place and I'd advise you to look literally anywhere else. It's one of the few nations in the west that's getting poorer. It's a hellscape.

Find somewhere in Europe, failing that, the Highlands in Scotland.

There is no "warmer" part of England. Some areas have less rainfall than others but that's about it. You can drive from the tip of Scotland to The southernmost point of England in well under a day, around 14 hours at around 55mph I think it is.

If you want "wilderness" such as we have it, you want to stay in the north or over the border in Scotland. I live in the Lake District for instance and I would only ever head further north if I was ever to leave. We get 200 days of rain per year on average here. South of the lakes most of England is built up or just features expanses of fields with random towns and villages scattered about.

Never heard of any preppers around these parts. There's bound to be some out there but prepping always struck me as more of an American thing.

If you want a TV show on British countryside/wildlife, I recommend Countryfile and Spring Watch (Winter Watch also exists). The former is a weekly show every Sunday on the BBC and the latter is a seasonal show which broadcasts for roughly a week with live segments, documentary segments, live cameras of badger sets and bird nests etc. they’ve covered everything from worms to sea eagles. Check BBC iPlayer for them or YouTube might have clips.

You won't be accepted as a refugee. That's a ridiculous plan with no chance of working. You can maybe get a "Young Person's Working Holiday" visa (it's called something like that) since you live in Canada but it doesn't last long and isn't a path to residency.
There are other monarchies in the world, and the UK isn't a monarchy in any practical sense anyway. The UK is essentially a democracy.

13 or so trees in the middle of some farmer's field != forest
What you have are parks, of various sizes, but they're still just parks; in other words you can't cram 70 odd million people onto a plot of land roughly the size of Oregon and rightfully call any of it forest, let alone wilderness.

This is will the limited exception of some military types, if you have military experience or friends then you might be able to get involved there. For locations there’s the highlands and to a limited degree wales, the moors, or some of the midlands national parks but they’re mostly for weekend warriors up from London. It’s not a country to move to if this is a priority for you

We really don't. We have the smallest amount of forests of anywhere in Europe, and any "forest" you are in you could walk for a few hours or drive 15-30 minutes and be in a built up area.

Anywhere you go, even the highest mountains, you'll be able to see towns and cities. We don't have real wilderness, and the wilderness we do have is inhospitable privately owned featureless moorland that you couldn't live on even if you purchased the land.

We have insanely high house prices and land prices due to being a tiny island that's been subjected to extremely high levels of immigration.

We have oppressive anti-roaming anti-camping laws, with almost the entire country being privately owned and enclosed (with fencing and livestock). The exception being parts of Scotland.

We have the highest energy prices of any developed nation and you can't just buy fuel anywhere like you can in parts of America/Canada. They're bringing in restrictions on burning logs.

We have restrictions on gun ownership which mean no handguns at all, only rifles and shotguns for those with a licence and genuine reason for needing them (hint: you won't be allowed).

We have some of the most tyrannical, anti-freedom anti-freespeech laws of any Western nation and are the most surveilled. Any road you drive on in the UK, the government tracks you by ANPR, and you'll be on hundreds of CCTV cameras when you step out.

Canada is such a better place to be off grid or be a prepper, that it blows my mind anyone would consider this move.
