>>2798048That isn't paint, it's a roll-on polyurethane like AquaSeal meaning that it's been scratched through and had a leak at some point. No problem because it'll happen eventually, but you don't want to remove it even if you could. Google "polyurethane waterproofing" and find something in a different colour if you don't like the look of it. Might really pop with some blue or green?
>>2799651I've been really wanting to take the plastic paddles off my own collapsable one and stick them on the ends of a nice long thick length of wooden dowel from the hardware store. Mostly for aesthetic reasons, but also to get a longer stroke out on open water if that makes sense
>>2800397>>2800412Seconding the wetsuit idea. It's the middle of summer here but I paddle in an alpine region where the water is a constant ~5C 41F. I bought a wetsuit on sale from a camping supply store for less than $100 which isn't the greatest, but it's the difference between getting a chill and getting hypothermia
Right now I'm really liking these 2.7m / 9ft sit-on-top fishing kayaks that have been coming out of the same chinese plastic moulds for the last ~15 years. The one on the left is about 10 years old that I bought used for $200 and the right one is brand new for $450. I've got these two plus a bigger 4m ocean kayak. My dad enjoyed paddling so much while visiting that he bought two of his own because they fit flat diagonally in a standard sized australian ute/truck tray that we both drive. Having 5 kayaks just laying around is great fun for getting friends and family together
>>2803820I have slings/straps screwed into the studs on the outside of my garage (landlord is chill) which you'll find for less than $50 a pair on ebay. Locking? Get a length of chain and sturdy padlock from a hardware store, pull the plugs out, and run them through the scupper plug holes. They'll have to cut through the kayak to get the chain off which defeats the purpose of stealing it
