Consuming thread.
I just picked some marsh tea and intend to make, well, tea from the leaves. Just for fun really.

What have you eaten or otherwise consumed or made from things (plants) you get when you are /out/? Hunters welcome to share game I guess but I'm mainly thinking of plants or herbs.

In my area huckleberries grow every where, its great when your going down a trail to be able to just grab a few as you walk for a little snack

prickly pear fruit are amazing
there is a lot of really common edible/medicinal wild plants like wild plantain, spanish needles, wood/sheep sorrels, clovers, usnea etc

Yeah that's all their is to it.

I think taste can varry on the type of tree, you can get an idea of how it will taste by chewing on some needles first

Some pine is toxic, but the common spruce is a tasty source of some nutrient. Educate yourself with some Uncle Ray.

Collected some manzanita berries and tried making a cider but it was kinda bitter even after soaking them for a few hours (gotta do it overnight I guess)
Baked some acorns once but accidentally over did them and they just tasted burnt :(
Ate a prickly pear fruit, tasted good but was a pain to get off all the spines.

All sorts of game, most fish (Won't fucking touch dogfish, just kill em). Berries/mushrooms I pick every year, the girlfriend makes a lot of jelly/jam/pickled shit. Pine tea of course when I feel like it.
Fiddle-head ferns are great, wild asparagus if the few good patches I know of produce.
