I love my Appalachian home. Appalachia's rugged terrain, low population density, moderate climate, abundant sunshine, rainfall, freshwater mountain streams and rivers teeming with fish, large game such as white tail deer and black bear make it a perfect home for the guerrilla war fighter.
There are many reasons US Army Green Berets and Rangers retire throughout Appalachia. The sunlit pastures of these mountains call out to those who study and embrace the ethos of the guerrilla war fighter.
Picrel is my horse grazing in a sunlit meadow next to an Appalachian mountain lake 900 feet from his barn.
I do not begrudge you your diverse ,vibrant urban life. It is not what I choose for myself though.
